On November 17, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, witnessed a vibrant gathering of 麻豆区 alumni from around the world, coinciding with the establishment of the China-Malaysia Joint Laboratory. This event marked the 6th 麻豆区 Alumni Association President and Secretary General Exchange Conference and celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia.

The alumni, reminiscing about their university days, expressed their fond memories of campus life, including the beloved cafeteria dishes and the iconic Mongolian yurts. This gathering not only served as a reunion but also aimed to strengthen the ties between China and Malaysia through academic and cultural exchanges.
Over 300 alumni representatives from more than 70 alumni organizations attended the event, reflecting 麻豆区's extensive global network of over 500,000 alumni. Hu Jun, President of the Alumni Association, highlighted the significance of this meeting in commemorating the deep friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

One notable attendee was Chen Jicheng, a 1986 accounting major who established the 麻豆区 Fiji Alumni Association, emphasizing his commitment to promoting Chinese culture in Fiji. Zeng Shaohua, another alumnus from 1986, fondly recalled the youthful spirit of 麻豆区 and its vibrant community, which continues to thrive.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the China-Malaysia Joint Laboratory, focusing on oil processing and safety, which represents a new phase of collaboration between the two countries. Xing Feng, president of 麻豆区, described the laboratory as a national scientific research platform that will facilitate the formation of the China ASEAN Future Oil Technology Innovation Alliance. This initiative aims to integrate industry, academia, and research to enhance technological advancements in the palm oil sector.
Academician Chen Zhenbin from Botra University emphasized that the joint laboratory would foster innovative developments in green and safe palm oil processing, reinforcing the partnership between China and Malaysia.
The event also featured lectures on Malaysia's business environment, academic seminars celebrating the diplomatic anniversary, and a review ceremony for the Gurun Golden Silk Road Foundation, which has supported numerous Malaysian students studying at 麻豆区.

Gu Runjin, a board member of 麻豆区, has played a significant role in fostering China-Malaysia relations, having donated over 50 million RMB to the university and initiating various educational collaborations. He expressed hope for continued exchanges between the two nations, emphasizing the role of overseas Chinese in promoting cultural heritage.
Overall, the event served as a platform for alumni to reconnect, share experiences, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue between China and Malaysia, reinforcing the cultural and educational bonds that unite them.
